Program Overview

The BS in Mass Communication and Media Studies degree program emphasizes critical thinking, writing, content creation, the effects of the media on the public as media studies, and related journalistic and strategic communication practices. The focus of the BS in MCMS program is to enhance the media literacy of students, and to play an active role in digital media, print and electronic media of the contemporary world. Media is still an emerging field of the current century. Knowledge of media always enhances the expression power of a person. This program polishes the skills of students to express their thoughts and ideas for the betterment of the society.

Job Market

The BS in MCMS lays the groundwork for understanding the foundations and major principles of mass media and can lead to a mass media career and beyond. Students apply basic concepts learned in the major to any communication path they follow. If you are pursuing a career in a traditional media field such as advertising, public relations, or journalism, you can apply your understanding of media learned in the sequence to a wide range of work. Students have launched careers as freelance videographers, musicians, wedding planners, doctors, designers, information specialists, research analysts, writers, editors, community affairs, as leaders in the non-profit sector, and in corporate and institutional media (producing visual, audio, written, and multimedia materials for training and instruction, internal and external communications, sales, and public relations).
