Greenwich University offers Mandarin courses to university students and the general public, from beginners to advanced classes. All of our language teachers are native Mandarin speakers, fully qualified teachers of Chinese as a foreign language.
This course will provide absolute beginners with a basic knowledge in Mandarin, including some daily characters and conversation patterns. The basics of the Chinese language (pinyin, tones and character composition) will be introduced.
Upon completion of Chinese Level One, learners are expected be able to communicate on some daily topics and read simple, short texts in Chinese.
This course is a continuation from Chinese Level One. It aims to provide Mandarin learners with basic competence in listening, speaking, reading and writing. Learners will be introduced to more commonly-used Chinese characters and daily words. Prerequisite: Those who have completed Chinese Level one, or have studied Chinese for 40 hours, and have mastered around 170 Chinese characters.
Upon completion of Chinese Level Two, learners are expected be able to communicate on daily topics and read simple short texts in Chinese.
This course is designed to further develop the four key language skills in Chinese. Students’ vocabulary and understanding of grammar will be expanded. There will be more communicative activities, structure practice, grammar, reading and writing. Prerequisite: Those who have completed Chinese Level two, or have learned Chinese for 80 hours, and have mastered around 300 Chinese characters.
Upon completion of Chinese Level Three, Learners should be able to complete communication tasks in daily life when living, studying or travelling in China.
